01 / Why this work matters

A late panorama lets color speak without becoming a flower painting

Le langage des roses returns to a floral title almost five decades after Serie de fleurs III. No bouquet appears. Rose, crimson, green, and darkness move across a panoramic support as if the sensory memory of flowers had expanded into climate.

The painting demonstrates the openness of Chu's late language. Calligraphic direction remains, but signs are absorbed into broad chromatic atmosphere. The roses speak through recurrence, blooming intensity, and fading rather than through depiction, completing a long movement from object to embodied sensation.
